KP CM vows no student will leave education due to financial constraints

PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring that no child in the province abandons their education due to financial difficulties. He said the government stands firmly with students and will continue to support them in every possible way.
The Chief Minister expressed these views during his visit to the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK), Swabi, on Wednesday, where he formally inaugurated newly constructed faculty apartments. On the occasion, he also announced 20 special scholarships for students from the merged districts currently enrolled at the institute.
Addressing students and faculty, the Chief Minister urged youth to come forward with innovative ideas, assuring them of full government support for initiatives that could contribute to the progress of the province and the country. He said that strong institutions are the foundation of a strong state, and strengthening them must remain a top priority.
Welcoming students from across the country studying at GIK, he said they should consider the institute their home. He expressed satisfaction that GIK has become a symbol of national unity, with admissions based strictly on merit and transparency, providing equal opportunities to both male and female students. He particularly appreciated the fact that more than 500 female students are currently enrolled in engineering programs, calling it a matter of pride for both the institute and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Highlighting the global achievements of GIK graduates, Afridi said their success brings honour to both the institute and Pakistan. He advised students to remain focused, noting that achieving any goal requires intention, direction, and effort. When individuals and institutions work with sincerity and clarity of purpose, he remarked, positive results naturally follow.
The Chief Minister also praised the Board of Governors, administration, and faculty for maintaining GIK’s high standards and assured them of the provincial government’s full support in their ongoing efforts.
