JLF backs Fazl’s stance on madaris registration bill

The Jamiat Lawyers Forum (JLF) has expressed strong support for Maulana Fazl ur Rehman’s stance on the Madrasa Registration Bill and threatened if the bill is not passed, they will join Maulana Fazlur Rehman in his movement and are prepared to undertake protests and sacrifices.
The statement was made during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, where prominent members of the Forum, including Provincial President Muhammad Jalaluddin Advocate and General Secretary Muhammad Farooq Afridi Advocate, addressed the media.
At the press conference, the JLF leaders warned the government that failing to honor the agreements made with Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the Madrasa Bill would lead to widespread protests across Pakistan.
They emphasized that the Jamiat Lawyers Forum stands firmly with Maulana Fazlur Rehman in his fight to protect and preserve madrasas.
The Forum expressed concerns about various issues, including the closure of madrasa accounts, visa restrictions for foreign students, and what they termed as irrelevant and intrusive scrutiny of religious seminaries.
They also voiced dissatisfaction with what they perceive as the misuse of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as an excuse to impose restrictions on seminaries.
JLF leaders pointed out that madrasas have always been registered under the Society Act of 1860, and they viewed the current government actions as a violation of earlier commitments made to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
They also noted that after the events of 9/11, various international conspiracies had been launched against madrasas, and they believe these efforts are now being linked to FATF compliance.
