Health minister reviews major projects planned for 2026-27

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Khaliqur Rehman on Thursday chaired a meeting to review major health projects planned for the financial year 2026-27.
Health Secretary Fayyaz Ali Shah, officials from the Health Department’s planning cell, representatives of the district administrations and other senior health officials attended the meeting, said a handout.
The minister was briefed on proposals for new health complexes, major hospitals and other large-scale healthcare projects. Officials discussed the availability and selection of suitable land, site mapping, project requirements and financial and development costs.
Mr Rehman directed the officials concerned to expedite the identification and mapping of suitable sites for the proposed health complexes and major hospitals and complete the related financial and development estimates at the earliest.
He described the projects as major initiatives of the provincial government and directed departments and district administrations to ensure close coordination to avoid unnecessary delays.
The minister said the proposed projects would help strengthen the province’s healthcare infrastructure, expand access to modern medical facilities and reduce the growing pressure on major hospitals.
He said the government was focusing on long-term projects to bring better healthcare facilities closer to people and address both current and future healthcare needs.
Mr Rehman directed the authorities to complete land-related matters, site mapping, financial estimates and other administrative requirements within the stipulated timeframe and ensure regular follow-up on project progress.
He said the provincial government would continue to introduce major initiatives aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
