Govt files reply in IHC on petition seeking nullification of PECA act

ISLAMABAD
Government has filed reply in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on the petition seeking nullification of controversial Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA act).
Petitions seeking court orders for declaring PECA ACT-2025 null and void came up for hearing before Judge Inaam Amin Minhas in IHC .
Written reply from government side was filed.
It is pertinent to mention here Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) , Anchors and Islamabad High Court Journalists have filed petitions in IHC for annulment of controversial PECA act.
State counsel told the court during the hearing of the case provincial governments have been made respondents in the petition.
Registrar office raised objection which was removed. Later the court directed the petitioner counsels to give arguments.
Upon it Dr Yasir Aman Khan counsel for PFUJ started his arguments.
Justice Anaam Amin Minhas inquired at the beginning of hearing you have to tell code of conduct too that it was what earlier and difference came where. Tell the background first so that case could be understood.
Dr Yasir Aman Khan counsel for PFUJ told the court PECA act was brought in 2016. Some things of 2016 act were removed and some were included in Amendment Act -2025. Social media complaint council has also been included in amendment act.
Later the court adjourned the hearing of the case.
