Fuel price hike to trigger new wave of inflation, warns Sherpao

PESHAWAR
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Provincial Chairman, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, has strongly criticized the recent increase in petroleum product prices, warning that it will unleash a new wave of inflation and exacerbate the hardships faced by the common man.
Sherpao said that fuel prices are already at record highs, and the latest hike will intensify the burden on the poor. He noted that petroleum prices have been raised multiple times in recent months without justification, pushing essential commodities further out of reach for the average citizen. He pointed out that prices were also raised on July 1, and the frequent increases are not only raising transport fares but also impacting the costs of consumer goods, agriculture, industry, and the broader economy. Sherpao accused the government of worsening public unrest instead of providing much-needed relief. He rejected official claims of easing inflation, saying they contradict the ground realities where citizens’ purchasing power continues to shrink rapidly.
