Friends of Aafia holds peaceful demo for release of Dr Aafia

On the eve of the last day of outgoing US President Joe Biden in the White House, a large number of citizens on the call of Friends of Aafia gathered before the Karachi Press Club (KPC) here Sunday and appealed to the US president to approve the mercy petition of Dr Aafia.
They said that more than 1.64 citizens have already signed the mercy petition for Dr Aafia Siddiqui and the US president should order her release on humanitarian grounds.
Addressing the peaceful demo, Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor said that the citizens not only in Pakistan but also in many other countries have been demanding the release of Dr Aafia.
He said he would not like to talk on the role of Pakistani government in the case of Aafia as it has disappointed the whole nation. He said millions of people around the world have been demanding the release of Aafia for last two decades.
However, Sardar Zulfiqar said that today the Friends of Aafia have gathered here to appeal Joe Biden for release of Aafia on humanitarian grounds. He said with the release of Aafia, the image of the US would improve in the Muslim world including Pakistan.
S K Marwat of Friends of Aafia said that Aafia is the innocent woman who has been facing great atrocities and agonies. He appealed the US president to release Aafia and win the hearts of Muslims.
Eng. Junaid Ahmed said for the last two decades we have been struggling peacefully for the release of Aafia and this struggle would continue till her freedom.
Saad Humayon, Akram Agariya, Almas Bibi, Imdad Siddiqui, Allah Dost, Fazal Rahi, Dilawar Khan, Muhammad Hussain, Saeedal, Abdul Samad and others were also present.
