ECP may postpone GE 2024, Sources

Islamabad: The issue of printing ballot papers for the February 8 general elections has become a serious uphill task.
As the court decisions are continuously being given from the Supreme Court on a daily basis regarding different constituencies.
The meeting of the Election Commission is also going on to consider this difficult situation.
According to sources, some elements are still obstructing the work of the Election Commission and the election process to postpone the February 8 elections.
Hon’ble judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, is sending complaints related to the elections to the Election Commission on a daily basis
It is impossible to publish the ballot papers again for the affected constituencies, as the ballot papers are published on a specific paper.
In 2018, 800 tons of special paper was used for the printing of ballot papers and now 2400 tons of paper will be used for the February 8 election.
If such updates continue to come from the court, it will be very difficult if not impossible for the commission to reprint the ballot papers, send them to the returning officers and deliver them to the polling stations.
In such a situation, the general election may have to be postponed as the commission does not have the extra paper.
