Commissioner orders mandatory vaccination for all children under five

Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmad has directed that all children under the age of five must be administered polio drops during the upcoming anti-polio campaign starting from September 1.
He instructed the police and relevant departments to ensure foolproof security arrangements for polio teams to ensure the campaign runs smoothly and without disruption.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office in Mardan to review preparations for the four-day anti-polio campaign. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mardan Wasif Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Swabi and Mardan, officials from the Health, Police, and Education Departments, as well as representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Briefing the meeting, officials stated that the campaign will be conducted across Mardan district and two tehsils of Swabi—Razar and Swabi. During the campaign, polio drops will be administered to 408,381 children in Mardan and 167,031 children in the two tehsils of Swabi.
To achieve this goal, 1,882 mobile and 102 fixed teams have been formed in Mardan, while 682 mobile and 39 fixed teams have been deployed in Swabi. The Commissioner stressed reducing refusal cases and ensuring that no child is missed during the campaign.
He stated that polio is a dangerous disease and its eradication requires decisive and coordinated action. No negligence will be tolerated in this regard, he warned.
