CM opens Rs1.6b Hayatabad underpass in Peshawar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday inaugurated the second a Rs1.6 billion underpass at Hayatabad Toll Plaza, a project the provincial government says will help ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Detour Road on the Bara side and Ring Road.
The 500-metre-long underpass, including a 130-metre barrel, has been completed in 90 days. The two-lane structure is supported by 665 piles.
According to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the project was undertaken primarily to address traffic congestion at Hayatabad Toll Plaza and on adjoining roads and ensure smoother vehicular movement.
The underpass is expected to reduce traffic interruptions and delays, shorten commuters’ travel time and improve traffic management and mobility in Hayatabad and surrounding areas.
Members of the provincial cabinet, including Meena Khan Afridi, Shafi Jan, Mian Umar Kakakhel and Adil Iqbal, attended the inauguration.
Members of the National Assembly Junaid Akbar and Asif Khan, other parliamentarians from Peshawar, party leaders and a large number of citizens were also present.
