CM Afridi orders fast-track completion of tehsil, district sports complexes

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday directed officials to complete the purchase of land for new district and tehsil complexes across the province within a month, emphasizing that these projects will allow people to access government services at their doorstep.
A statement issued here said he was presiding over a meeting of the Planning and Development Department, the Chief Minister also called for accelerating the establishment of the provincial power transmission line, stating that the province’s own transmission infrastructure will provide electricity to industries and households at lower rates.
He highlighted that industrial development was key to reducing unemployment.
Afridi stressed the importance of timely execution of all ongoing development projects, saying, “There is no scope for delay in the implementation of projects of public interest. Our aim is to deliver the benefits of these projects directly and without delay to the people.”
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Muhammad Abid Majeed, and other senior officials. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the province’s development program for 2025-26, which includes a total of 2,186 schemes with an allocation of Rs 520 billion.
Under the KP Annual Development Program, Rs 215 billion has been allocated for 1,577 schemes, of which Rs 73 billion has been released.
For the merged districts, Rs 6.6 billion has been allocated under the annual development program, while Rs 50 billion has been earmarked under the Rapid Development Program; Rs 19.4 billion has already been released from provincial funds due to a lack of federal disbursement this year.
Officials informed the meeting that 470 development projects are expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year.
