Barrister Saif expressed optimism that the longstanding conflict in Kurram would be resolved permanently.
He noted that the issue, which has persisted for over 130 years, is being addressed with a clear roadmap.
“One party has agreed to surrender weapons, while the other has requested time. An agreement will be signed tomorrow, after which both parties will disarm, and the routes will be reopened,” he stated.
Barrister Saif acknowledged that the presence of heavy weaponry in the area reflects institutional shortcomings.
He dismissed rumors about vacating Kurram for the settlement of terrorists as baseless and emphasized that the Apex Committee is fully empowered to implement its decisions.
The Advisor also highlighted that the closure of local routes had forced people to use the Pak-Afghan border, which has now also been sealed.
He cautioned against misrepresenting the law-and-order situation as sectarian conflict and assured that action would be taken against any non-local individuals involved in unrest in the Bagan area.
The upcoming agreement and disarmament process are expected to mark a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in Kurram.
