‘Big Catch-Up Campaign’ launched to vaccinate 359000 children in Peshawar

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sarmad Salim Akram formally inaugurated the ‘Big Catch-Up Campaign’ for primary immunization at the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) here on Monday.
The 12-day immunization drive will deploy 433 teams to vaccinate approximately 359,000 children across the district, protecting them from polio and other deadly diseases.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rao Hashim Azim, District Health Officer Dr. Muhammad Idris, and other officials were also present at the launch.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Sarmad Salim Akram emphasized the importance of basic immunization in safeguarding children’s health. He urged parents and guardians to cooperate with vaccination teams to ensure that every eligible child receives protection.
DC Peshawar said that the campaign aims to enhance routine immunization coverage and prevent vaccine-preventable diseases. He said that the district administration, health department, community leaders, and scholars were actively working to raise awareness and dispel misconceptions about vaccination.
