Following their outstanding and historic performance at the 35th National Games 2025 in Karachi, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Teqball team returned home to a grand and enthusiastic welcome in Peshawar.
Teqball was included as an exhibition sport for the first time in the history of the National Games, where the KP team captured widespread attention with its exceptional display.
The event also marked Pakistan’s first-ever National Teqball Championship, which was officially recognized as a calendar event of the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ). Teams from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir competed across seven different categories, making the championship a truly nationwide contest.
Demonstrating complete dominance throughout the tournament, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team secured all seven gold medals across the seven categories, along with two additional silver medals—an unprecedented achievement in the history of the championship.
The KP gold medalists included Munam Siddiqui, Jalaluddin, Safa Marwa and Rebekah, who won medals in individual, doubles and team events with outstanding performances.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Teqball team was led by KP Teqball Association Vice President Shafiq Ahmed as team official, while Coach Akhtar Rasool played a pivotal role in the team’s success through his dedication, expertise and guidance.
Upon their return to Peshawar, the team was warmly received by officials of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, office-bearers of the KP Teqball Association, and Teqball founder in Pakistan, Mian Absar Ali. On the occasion, officials praised the players’ commitment and hard work, describing the achievement as a major milestone for the development of sports in the province.
The officials expressed hope that the successful organization of this historic championship and KP’s remarkable performance would significantly promote Teqball in Pakistan and further strengthen sporting ties between Pakistan and Hungary, the country where Teqball originated. Teqball is increasingly being recognized worldwide as a symbol of friendship, unity and cultural harmony.
