KMU hosts inspiring session on interfaith harmony, unity, and social cohesion

Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar successfully conducted the first session of the Mandatory Weekly Co-Curricular Activities for the Academic Year 2025–2026. These activities are being organized under the supervision of the Secretary Higher Education, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Centre of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism (KPCVE). The central theme of the event was Interfaith Harmony and Social Cohesion. The session was graced by Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, Vice Chancellor KMU, along with Heads of various institutes.
Aimal Riaz Khan, the nominated focal person for the Peshawar region, coordinated closely with the designated focal persons of KMU to ensure the smooth and effective execution of the session. The program was organized by the Welfare Societies of the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IPMR) in collaboration with the IPS Events Society, under the supervision of Director Academics, Prof. Dr. Zill-e-Huma.
Distinguished speakers shared their perspectives on fostering understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect among diverse religious communities. The session included special addresses by Mufti Maulana Muhammad Arshad, a renowned Muslim religious scholar; Rohan Sarab Diyal, Youth Leader at the Pakistan Council of World Religions representing the Hindu community; and Mr. Augustin Jacob, Member of the DC Peshawar Interfaith Harmony Council representing the Christian community.
The speakers emphasized that a peaceful and resilient society can only emerge when people of different religions and cultures embrace respect, acceptance, and goodwill toward one another. They highlighted that Pakistan is a shared homeland for all, and followers of every faith have an equal role in its progress and prosperity.
Participants described the event as highly constructive and meaningful. They appreciated the efforts of the KMU administration and expressed hope that such positive and enriching activities would continue in the future.
