Karachi Clinches Title at Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari Inter-Division Women’s Hockey Championship

Karachi Division emerged as the champion of the Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari All Sindh Inter-Division Pink Hockey Championship, held at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hockey Stadium, Nawabshah. In a one-sided final match, Karachi defeated the host team, Benazirabad, with a commanding score of 10-0, while Sukkur secured third place after a hard-fought win against Larkana.
The three-day championship was organized under the directives of Sindh Minister for Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar and Provincial Secretary for Sports Mr. Munawar Ali Mahesar, and was hosted by the District Sports Office Shaheed Benazirabad, Government of Sindh.
The final day featured the championship match and the third-place playoff. The closing ceremony was held with Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Mr. Abdul Samad Nizamani as the chief guest, accompanied by Mayor Nawabshah Qazi Abdul Rasheed Bhatti and Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Mubashir Arain. They distributed trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up teams.
Also in attendance were, Town Chairman H.M. Khawaja Syed Atif Hussain Zaidi, Chairman Old Nawabshah Town Hayat Kakepota, District Sports Committee Coordinator Mr. Arshad Qureshi, Organizing Secretary Syed Hassan Askari, Principal of Benazir Public School Madam Mahdiyah, In-charge Bilawal Sports Complex Mr. Fida Hussain Dahri, Sports Organizer Mr. Shahid Rana, and other dignitaries.
Mr. Abdul Samad Nizamani, while addressing the gathering, commended the consistent efforts of the Sindh Sports Department and the District Sports Officer Mr. Abdul Rahim Rajput in promoting sports in the region. He lauded the successful hosting of the provincial women’s hockey championship following the recent volleyball event and assured full support for future sports activities.

In the final match, Karachi’s Maheen stole the show by scoring four goals and becoming the top scorer of the final. Hamna Nadeem contributed three goals, Momil added two, and Ayesha scored one. A minute of silence was observed in memory of late Nawabshah hockey player Mishal Baloch, and prayers were offered for her soul.
In the third-place match, Sukkur edged past Larkana 2-1 in an exciting contest to claim the bronze medal. Larkana finished fourth, followed by Mirpurkhas in fifth, and Hyderabad in sixth place.
