PML-N led govt can’t be trusted in negotiations: Saif

Advisor to the Chief Minister on information Barrister Mohammad Saif has raised serious concerns about the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led federal government’s intentions, accusing it of using legislation like the Provincial Electronic Crime Act (PECA) to suppress the media and maintain its grip on power.
In a press statement, Barrister Saif stated, “The federal government, which has deceived the media through the PECA Act, cannot be trusted in negotiations with PTI.”
He alleged that PECA was being used as a tool to silence dissent, while the 26th amendment has undermined the independence of the judiciary.
The advisor went on to accuse the “illegitimate federal government” of spreading “fake news” and implementing “fake laws” to sustain its authority.
He also criticized the inclusion of Irfan Siddiqui in the federal negotiation committee, citing his alleged role in past failures.
Saif highlighted what he called the stark contrast between Imran Khan’s imprisonment in Adiala Jail and the Sharif family’s confinement in Raiwind, questioning the fairness and integrity of the system.
“The federal government has destroyed state institutions and will stop at nothing to maintain its power,” he added, expressing concern over the current state of governance and its implications for democracy and institutional independence.
