Waqas opposes civilians being tried in military courts

The Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sheikh Waqas Akram has expressed his strong opposition to the trial of civilians in military courts, stating that such practices should not take place.
He voiced his concerns regarding the issue during a media interaction at the Information Cell of the Civil Secretariat Peshawar, where Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan was also present. In his statement, Akram criticized the federal government for violating international agreements as part of efforts to dismantle PTI.
He questioned the postponement of the decision in the Al-Qadir Trust case, which was scheduled for today, and raised concerns over the delays in finalizing the verdict.
“Where is this decision being written, and what difficulties are being faced? This case is an example of brutality; perhaps that’s why there is hesitation in drafting the verdict,” he remarked.
Akram also discussed the ongoing negotiations between the government and PTI, noting that the first meeting of the negotiation committee had taken place.
He emphasized the importance of the committee meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan and stressed that while the committee has full authority, the negotiations will still be conditional.
