Sheikh Waqas condemns Punjab CM’s ‘threatening remarks’ against Imran

The Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sheikh Waqas Akram on Tuesday expressed grave concerns regarding recent statements made by the Chief Minister of Punjab, which he described as alarming and threatening.
He condemned the language used by the Chief Minister, asserting that it reflects an intention to harm PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently being treated brutally in jail.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC), PTI leader drew parallels between the current situation and the attack on Khan in Wazirabad, recalling that similar rhetoric was used by Maryam Nawaz and other leaders at that time.
He noted, “If there is any harm to Khan Sahib’s life, it will not be tolerated.”
Akram highlighted the strong support PTI has received from the public, particularly noting the electoral turnout from May 9 to February 8, which he believes underscores the party’s strength.
He criticized the Punjab government’s recent actions, including statements labeling the KP House in Islamabad as a “haven for terrorists” shortly before an attack, and described the Punjab government’s handling of wheat procurement as a failure.
He also mentioned ongoing arrests of PTI workers in Punjab, emphasizing that the party remains united across regions.
Regarding Bushra Bibi, he affirmed that she is a housewife and will reside wherever she chooses, reiterating that Khan’s leadership was not hereditary.
