Discusses Budhist, Gandahara civilization with Governor Kundi

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Friday emphasized ongoing efforts to promote religious tourism related to various civilizations in the province and noted the vast opportunities available in religious tourism.
The Governor said this in a meeting with an 8-member delegation from Thailand here at the Governor’s House.
The delegation, led by Chaiyapon Suk-leam Director General of the Ministry of Culture, included Anil Sakya among other members.
During the meeting, discussions focused on matters related to the Gandhara Buddhist exhibition in Bangkok and potential areas for bilateral cooperation.
The delegation and the Governor reviewed various aspects of including Gandhara civilization artifacts from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Bangkok exhibition.
The conversation also discussed on joint cultural and art projects.
Governor Kundi welcomed the Thai delegation to the Governor House and presented them with souvenirs.
Governor Kundi highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is home to over 2,000 sites of Gandhara civilization.
He also mentioned plans to invite various ambassadors and religious figures to the Governor House soon to seek suggestions on promoting religious tourism.
Additionally, he announced that the Gandhara Buddhist exhibition and symposium will be held in Peshawar and Swat.
Governor Kundi advocated for art and culture exchanges between Thailand and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly focusing on Buddhist civilization.
The Thai delegation shared gifts and assured fully support for cultural exchange. They said that Pakistan is rich of Buddhism civilization. They said that there is good diplomatic relations between the two countries and we want to develope it more.
Meanwhile, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the need to modernize the province’s agriculture sector to achieve economic prosperity.
He stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive strategy with the support of international organizations.
The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with Farrukh Toirov, Deputy Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Pakistan, who visited the Governor House in Peshawar. Provincial Assembly member Arbab Zarak Khalil and prominent social figure Arbab Madad Khan were also present.
The discussion focused on promoting agriculture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing training and facilities to farmers, and exploring various suggestions.
Governor Kundi highlighted the province’s unique position in fruit and vegetable production, noting the presence of research centers like Tarnab and Ratta Kulachi, as well as the Rud-Kohi irrigation system and the Chashma Right Bank Canal.
He also mentioned the upcoming Chashma Lift Canal project and the significant presence of sugar mills in the province, with five out of eight located in Dera Ismail Khan.
The Governor pointed out that the livestock and fisheries sectors also require attention, as individuals in these fields are awaiting economic benefits.
He stressed the need for increased cooperation with Central Asia to promote agriculture and called on international organizations, especially the FAO, to focus on these areas.
He assured that the Governor House would provide full support to enhance production, improve quality, and ensure packaging meets global standards.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to work on developmental and welfare projects based on various future proposals.
