250 criminals held, 94 gangs busted in Peshawar

In effort to maintain law and order situation in the provincial capital, police claimed to have arrested 250 suspects of 94 gangs since last year.
According to police department report, a comprehensive operations have been launched in Peshawar against anti-social elements.
It added that police busted 94 gangs and arrested 250 criminals since last October.
During Operation , a total of 130 valuable mobile phones, 34 motorcycles, 5 cars, 4 Kalashnikovs, 108 pistols, 50 magazines and hundreds of cartridges were seized.
CCPO Peshawar Syed Ashfa Q Anwar while giving instructions to intensify the ongoing operation against street crimes, has said that there will be no compromise on the life and property of the people.
CCPO Peshawar has claimed that due to special operation, there has been a reduction of 48 per cent in the incidents of street crimes during this year compared to last year.
Similarly, at the level of divisions across the district, under the supervision of SPs, a crackdown has been conducted against gangs involved in car snatching/car lifting, motorcycle snatching/lifting, theft, robbery and other serious incidents.
During the crackdown this year, 94 gangs have been busted and 250 accused involved in crimes were apprehended.
Police have also seized looted money worth Rs 10.3 million from those arrested in various operations.
181 valuable mobile phones, 38 motorbikes, 12 motorbikes, 6 motorbikes were also recovered.
A rickshaw, three tons of gold ornaments, along with other miscellaneous items were also recovered, along with the weapons used in the raids.
