SCCI calls for simplifying procedures to boost arms business and export

President, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fuad Ishaq stressed simplifying procedures and processing system to enhance business and export of Pakistan’ arms and ammunition throughout the world.
The SCCI chief asked to facilitate a business community attached with arms and ammunition sector under one window service. He further demanded a state of art laboratory for checking the quality and standard of the arms and ammunition.
Fuad Ishaq made these demands while speaking to members during a visit of Defence Export Production Organisation (DEPO) Deputy DG Commodore Aitizaz Khalid and GSO II Maj Saad Ali Khan here at the chamber house on Friday.
The meeting was attended by the SCCI’ senior vice president Sanaullah Khan, vice president Ejaz Khan Afridi, members of the chamber’ executive committee Monawar Khurshid, Hamza Ibrahim Butt, Naeem Qasmi, Qurtal Ain, Affaf Ali Khan, Kashif Amin, S Minhajuddin, Farhad Asfandyar, Faisal Afzal, Daudsons Armoury Peshawar CEO Nooruddin Duad, acting secretary general of the chamber Muqtasid Ahsan, a large number of businessmen attached with arms and ammunition sector.
Aitizaz Khalid during the meeting apprised participants about the main objectives and functions of the DEPO and invited the president Fuad Ishaq, other office bearers, executive members and members to participate in upcoming International Defence Exhibition and Seminar 2024 (IDEAS-2024) in Karachi, which is going to be held in November 2024.
Saad Ali Khan on the occasion presented a comprehensive multiple-media presentation and highlighted the importance of the DEPO and preparedness for upcoming IDEAS 2024 and Pakistan’ participation in global events.
Fuad Ishaq addressed the participants about the under-construction Expo Centre Peshawar, which according to him, this important project was initiated back in 2013 when he was president of the SCCI.
He informed that the chamber has started efforts for early completion of Expo Centre project and they are trying to ensure all required funds for the centre through Expo Development Fund (EDF), aimed at to promote locally manufactured products and enhance export from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He urged DEPO to hold next year’s IDEAS in Peshawar, KP.
Earlier, the business community attached with arms and ammunition sector pointed hurdles and issues, hampering exports and curtailing business on which DEPO officials assured them to take up all issues with Ministry of Defence Production and DG DEPO and other high officials to resolve them amicably.
