Govt-community synergy delivers fast-track water infrastructure in Hussainabad

In a major development for rural infrastructure, the Sindh Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has completed a state-funded water supply scheme in Village Hussainabad, Taluka Jati, completing the project in just three months — nearly three years ahead of its original June 2027 deadline.
The newly completed project will deliver clean and safe drinking water directly to 90 local households, addressing long-standing access challenges in the district.
During an official inspection of the facility, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Saleem Baloch commended the rapid deployment and technical execution led by the project’s contractor, Amanullah Sheikh, under the supervision of local engineers.”This project sets a standard for efficient public delivery,” Minister Baloch said during the visit.
“Access to safe drinking water should not be a privilege limited to urban centres. Our goal is to replicate this model across every village in Sindh so that communities can access clean water right at their doorsteps.”Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Abid Khawaja briefed visiting officials — including PHED Secretary Suhail Ahmed Qureshi, Chief Engineer (Hyderabad) Shafiq Memon, and Superintendent Engineer Sattar Jatoi — on the technical parameters of the scheme, confirming that the infrastructure meets all required quality standards despite the accelerated time frame.
Amanullah Sheikh mentioned that the scheme was executed successfully owing to the wholehearted cooperation and timely response of the villagers, who were keen for the scheme and wanted the project to be completed at the earliest. He also recalled the efficient role of Engineer Barkat Ali in the culmination of the project.
Addressing the attendees, the provincial minister for Public Health Engineering eulogized the commitment of the local community and added that communities must own the projects installed for their betterment. He further stated that the provincial government shall launch such projects for public benefit in the future as well.
The inspection drew a significant community turnout, with local leaders, elders, and residents gathering to welcome the delegation.
Notable attendees included Nooruddin Khawaja, Engineer Firoz Khawaja, community leader Haji Khamiso Khawaja, Shahnawaz Khawaja, Shakeel Khawaja, Qasim Khawaja, and Niaz Hussain Khawaja.Village residents presented traditional gifts to their guests and expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the reliable supply of clean water will significantly improve public health outcomes and daily life in the community.
