Federal Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, Friday visited the under construction /renovation Center of Excellence for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to review project progress and assess readiness for early operationalisation.
The Secretary was briefed on the physical progress, timelines, remaining works, human-resource planning and operational preparedness of the Centre.
He directed all concerned teams to accelerate implementation, meet committed timelines and ensure the highest standards of quality, safety and accessibility, emphasizing that emerging bottlenecks must be resolved through effective coordination.
The centre is envisioned as a flagship federal government initiative under the directions of the Prime Minister, aimed at strengthening special and inclusive education through an integrated ecosystem of: specialized assessment & education, speech, occupational & behavioral therapies, rehabilitation & life-skills development and research & professional capacity building. It also includes parent counselling & family support and vocational training and multidisciplinary services.
The facility will feature autism-friendly, accessible and low-stimulation spaces, including specialized classrooms, therapy and sensory rooms, assessment facilities, counselling areas, life-skills spaces and secure therapeutic outdoor areas.
