UN delegation meets CM Gandapur, vows to boost cooperation in various sectors
UN delegation praised KP’s efforts in strengthening healthcare services

PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met with a United Nations delegation led by UN Resident Coordinator for Pakistan, Muhammad Yahya.
The delegation included Miss Hiroko, Miss Afki Boatsman, Carlos Abbas Geha, and other officials. MNA Faisal Amin Gandapur, Additional Chief Secretary Planning, and provincial government officials were also present, said an official handout.
Discussions focused on the activities of UN agencies in various sectors across the province, including health, education, environment, culture, tourism, and rural development. Priority was given to polio eradication, maternal and child health, and reducing infant mortality.
Security and transportation challenges faced by UN staff working in the province were also addressed.
The Chief Minister emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to eradicating polio, making healthcare more efficient, and enhancing partnerships with international organizations.
He acknowledged the crucial role of UN agencies in public welfare and stressed the need for coordinated efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, particularly maternal and child health facilities.
Education, especially girls’ education, remains a key priority, with the government providing scholarships to 36,000 girls in different districts. Additionally, financial assistance is being extended to religious minorities for their cultural and religious practices.
The UN delegation praised KP’s efforts in strengthening healthcare services and assured full cooperation in improving health facilities, particularly polio eradication and maternal health programs.
