Tragic road accident leaves 14 dead in Jamshoro

The vehicle, loaded with passengers and sacks of wheat, lost control and fell into a deep ditch

At least 14 passengers died and several more were injured when a Mazda truck carrying people of the Kolhi Community plunged into a deep ditch close to Kirthar National Park in Jamshoro district on the other day which has caused the immediate death of 14 persons of Kolhi Community residents of village Bashir Arain, near Talhar, district Badin. According to police officials, the tragic incident occurred in the Taung area near the Bola Khan police station, located at the border of Baluchistan. The vehicle, loaded with passengers and sacks of wheat, lost its control and fell into deep ditch when who were returning to Badin after harvesting wheat and among the deceased were several women, children and men, while dozens also sustained serious injuries. The 14 deceased included 5 women, 06 children and 03 men were identified as Kaani, wife of Aasan Kolhi, her 03 children Vijay 03 yrs, Dhalo 05 yrs and Aarshi, Vini Bhanu 30 yrs, Marwa Rajesh, Jaagni, Bheemu, Daani Haresh, Kaani Aasan Kolhi, Devi Balchand Kolhi, Bachu Mal 35 yrs, Sooraj Mal 35 yrs and others.
Due to the remote area of Kohistan, rescue team reached with a delay and commenced the rescue operations when local denizens helped to transport the injured to the nearby hospital. The emergency was declared at the hospital in Taung soon after the accident information received to concerned authorities.
The death bodies were brought to their ancestral village and after funeral proceedings and prayer were buried in their ancestor graveyard near village Bashir Arain, Talhar district Badin.
MNA, Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, MPA, Mir Allah Bux Talpur, Bilal Ahmed Memon, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Division, Yasir Bhatti, Deputy Commissioner Badin, Qamar Raza Jiskani, SSP Badin and others were reached on the occasion and others expressed their deep sorrows over huge loss of the Kolhi community on the sad demise of the deceases. Govt will provide one lac to families of the deceased as death compensation when expenses of the medical treatment of the injured persons will be bear by Government of Sindh, Bilal Ahmed Memon, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad assured the bereaved families.
