Meena decries SC verdict as blow to democracy

PESHAWAR
The Minister for Higher Education, Archives & Libraries, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Meena Khan Afridi, has expressed strong reservations and deep disappointment over the recent decision by the Supreme Court, terming it a manifestation of the undemocratic and dangerous outcomes of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
In a strongly worded statement, the Minister said that sidelining a party that secured a two-thirds majority from the political process is grave injustice.
He further stated that the majority has lost in the halls of justice, while undemocratic and militaristic forces have prevailed.
Condemning what he described as orchestrated efforts to undermine democracy, Mr. Afridi added that attempts to suppress Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf through underhanded tactics and judicial decisions will not succeed, adding that PTI will not be shaken by such conspiracies.
He called upon national institutions to uphold the sanctity of justice, respect democratic principles, and allow the nation to move forward on the path of constitutional order and representative governance.
