Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has paid rich tribute to the brave martyrs of Kashmir, including the 22 martyrs of July 13, 1931, who laid down their lives in the struggle against tyranny during the Dogra Raj. In her message on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, the CM said, “We salute every Kashmiri martyr who became the voice of truth against oppression. The martyrs of 1931 stood tall against the Dogra Raj, and today, Indian occupation forces are repeating that same dark chapter of brutality.”
She said that despite decades of oppression, the spirit of the Kashmiri people remains undefeated. “Whether it was the Dogra rule of the past or the oppressive tactics of today’s Indian forces, they have never been able to break the will of the Kashmiri people,” she added.
CM Maryam Nawaz added that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs echo a powerful message, saying that chains can never imprison courage. The fragrance of freedom, loyalty, and sacrifice has permeated the soil of Kashmir.
She termed Kashmir Martyrs’ Day not just a remembrance, but a call to awaken the conscience of the international community, especially the United Nations and the Muslim Ummah.
