KP panel orders provision of facilities to small industries in Mardan

PESHAWAR: The KP Assembly Standing Committee on Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education on Wednesday directed concerned departments to take practical steps to improve basic facilities for industrialists at the Mardan Small Industrial Estate.
The committee which met with MPA Iftikhar Ali Mashvani in the chair discussed in detail about various initiatives taken for various industrial development projects in the province.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Industries Abdul Karim Khan, committee members, Provincial Assembly members, and officials from the Small Industries Development Board (SIDB).
The officials shared updates on industrialization efforts, including the ongoing development of the Industrial Park in Peshawar, which will have 393 plots for various factories.
The forum was informed about the 14 existing small industrial estates and plans to establish 19 new estates and parks, including 8 in merged districts.
The Industrial Park Peshawar is expected to create significant employment opportunities, with around 17,000 direct jobs and over 50,000 indirect jobs. Out of the total 393 plots, 86 have already been sold. The project’s first package is 24pc complete, and the second package is 10pc complete.
The committee was informed that the foundation stone of the project will be laid soon, and it is expected to be completed within two years.
The committee also addressed issues related to the initiation of new industrial projects in Swat and other areas.
Committee chairman Iftikhar Ali Mashwani sought a progress report on the Bajaur Industrial Estate in two months and emphasized the importance of industrialization for the province’s economic development.
He assured that the committee would provide all possible support for the growth of the industrial sector.
