KP govt enhances health card program with life insurance coverage

PESHAWAR: In a landmark move towards social security, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced the launch of a life insurance scheme across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Under this initiative, if the head of a family receiving treatment through the health card passes away during treatment, their heirs will receive financial assistance. In a statement issued here, the scheme offers Rs one million for the death of the head of the family under 60 years of age, and Rs 5 lakh for those above 60. More than 1 crore families are set to benefit from this transformative program. The provincial government will allocate Rs 4.5 billion annually to fund the scheme, with all costs borne by the government. KP becomes the first government in the country to introduce such a unique life insurance initiative, marking a major step towards establishing a welfare state. DLP Report
