IHC summons detailed report on handing over Aafia Siddiqui to US till Friday

ISLAMABAD
Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned on Friday detailed report from foreign ministry about handing over Aafia Siddiqui to US.
The court also issued directive replies to two questions of the court be submitted that “ had ISI any evidence against Aafia Siddiqui and had ISI mandate to hand over Aafia Siddiqui and her children to some one else.
On the other hand Mr Smith the counsel for Aafia Siddiqui has filed his affidavit in the court.
It has been said in the affidavit that in 2003 Sindh government handed over Aafia Siddiqui and her children to ISI and ISI handed over Aafia Siddiqui along with her children to US.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq took up the case for hearing on Monday.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) Muhammad Iqbal Dogal, Imran Shafiq counsel for family of Aafia Siddiqui and amicus curiae Zainab Janjua appeared in the court.
Fouzia Siddiqui sister of Aafia Siddiqui also appeared in the court through video link.
At the inception of hearing Mr Smith counsel for Aafia Siddiqui filed his affidavit in the court.
The affidavit said Sindh government handed over Aafia Siddiqui along with her children to ISI in 2003 and ISI handed over Aafia Siddiqui with her children to US.
Upon this affidavit the IHC has sought replies to two questions with reference to handing over Aafia Sidduiq and her children to US authorities.
The court has asked if ISI had any evidence against Aafia Siddiqui and had ISI held mandate to hand over Aafia Siddiqui and her children to any one else.
AAG said questions related to agencies on the matter of handing over of Aafia Siddiqui along with her children to US be kept apart otherwise the purpose of the petition will not be served.

The court while moving to counsel for foreign minister remarked “ submit detailed report on court’s questions till Friday. I am not issuing any order today. You should give detailed reply of your office otherwise I will get you all seated here. Time is given till Friday. Give detailed reply.
Fouzia Siddiqui sister of Aafia Siddiqui appeared in the court through video link.
She said the key to return of Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan lies with government of Pakistan. The matter of Aafia Siddiqui should be resolved in Joe Biden government. The matter will be kept on hold on arrival of new government.
Former Senator JI Mushtaq Ahmad also appeared in the court.
The court while summoning report till Friday from foreign ministry adjourned the hearing till Friday.
