Hamza honoured for officiating Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup

Former Hockey Olympian and inventor of the reverse flick in world of hockey Rahim Khan Wednesday hosted a reception in the honor of young and energetic Hamza Khan of Peshawar for officiating Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia wherein Pakistan finished runners-up after 13-long-years.
Former Sports Minister and President KP Olympic Association Syed Aqil Shah, former Hockey Olympians Rahim Khan, Syed Musaddiq Hussain Shah, World Penal Hockey Umpire and Asian Hockey Federation Umpire Manager Faiz Muhammad Faizi, international hockey umpires Hamza Khan, international Rauf Khan, national umpire Afsar Ali, Mukhtiar Khan, international coaches Nadeem Khan, Hayat Ullah, Wasif Khan, Tufail Khan, hockey in-charge of KP Hockey Police Naeem Khan, players and people from different walk of life attended.
Speaking on this occasion, Syed Aqil Shah appreciated young Hamza Khan, who for the first time, acted as field judge in the recently held Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament and thanked Hockey Olympian Rahim Khan for holding the reception in his honor.
Syed Aqil Shah presented a bouquet of flowers to Syed Hamza Khan and appreciated his performance and said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been a prominent place in the promotion of hockey and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has produced famous hockey Olympians and international hockey players not only in hockey but also in other sports as well.
He further said that this is the first time that Hamza Tufail, a young technical official emerging from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has performed excellent duty in the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament. On which he got a Grade-A promotion for good performance.
After the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament, the World Hockey Qualifier is taking place in Poland, where if Pakistan secures the third position, Pakistan will have many sporting opportunities. Syed Aqil Shah said that just as the government appreciated the hockey team in Azlan Shah, it should also pay attention to this game so that this national game of Pakistan can be promoted at the global level.
Aqil Shah said that Pakistanis appreciated and supported the performance of the hockey team not only in Pakistan but in all countries of the world. “If the national team is supported in the same way, we are not short of talent,” he added.
These players can perform even better if proper facilities were given to them in time, Aqil Shah said. On this occasion, Olympian Musaddiq Hussain, Olympian Rahim Khan also praised the performance of Hamza Khan and expressed hope that the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government will focus not only on hockey but also on other sports to improve the performance of other sportsmen associated with different games.
