CM-KP orders probe into misuse of industrial land

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken notice of the misuse of land originally allotted for industrial purposes and directed the Chief Secretary to form a task force to investigate the matter.
The Chief Minister’s Secretariat has formally conveyed these directives in a letter to the Chief Secretary, highlighting that government-purchased and allotted lands for industries are either lying vacant or allegedly being used for other purposes. The letter emphasized that such misuse constitutes a deviation from the original intent and a violation of the relevant terms and conditions. “In view of the above and with a view to ensuring compliance with the legal framework and the original purpose of land acquisition..,” the letter stated.
“You are accordingly requested to submit a comprehensive plan, along with actionable recommendations for the consideration of the Chief Minister within 30 days, please,” it added.
The task force, comprising officials from the departments of industries, law, and the Board of Revenue, has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation. It has been directed to review all legal aspects of the land acquisition process, including awards and other related documents, and present a comprehensive plan with workable proposals.
Additionally, a province-wide audit of industrial land will be conducted to identify unauthorized usage. The legal status of such lands will be assessed under prevailing rules and regulations. The task force has also been instructed to consult stakeholders, including local administration, industry representatives, and affected landowners, to propose viable and legal solutions.
If necessary, recommendations will be made for the withdrawal of misused lands, legal action, and the imposition of penalties to ensure compliance with the intended purpose of industrial development.
