Central govt trying to undermine ‘independence of judiciary’: Barrister Saif

PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif has strongly criticized the federal government’s attempts to amend the Constitution to extend the Chief Justice’s tenure, calling it an “unconstitutional measure” that will have dire consequences for the country.
Saif accused the federal government of trying to undermine the independence of the Supreme Judiciary and warned that accepting the extension would be tantamount to taking away the independence of the Supreme Court.
He alleged that the Sharif family has a history of trying to control the Supreme Court and is now attempting to amend the Constitution to prevent the implementation of its decisions. Saif claimed that the Sharif family prioritizes personal interests over national interests and is harming the reputation of the country’s Supreme Judiciary.
He also criticized the federal government’s formation through Form 47, saying it has caused irreparable damage to the country’s reputation and institutions. Saif predicted that the “fake government’s” days are numbered and its end is now inevitable.
