Ali Amin Gandapur to inaugurate U23 Inter-Regional Games, Hayatabad Cricket Stadium on May 28: DG Sports

Rs. 3.5 billion allocation for sports in budget-2024-25, all ongoing schemes to be completed well in time

All preparations have been completed for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U-23 Inter-Regional Games, which will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur from May 28 along with ICC Certified Hayatabad Cricket Stadium, Director General Sports Abdul Nasir Khan told media men during a press conference here on Friday.
Advisor to Chief Minister Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhr Jahan, Ministers, Members of the Provincial Assembly, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mutiullah Khan will also be present, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abdul Nasir informed.
He said 1850 players, both male and female, in 20 different Games are going to participate in 11 male and 9 female Games. He said 1850 players including male and female players will participate in 20 different games, in which 770 female players will participate in 9 different games and 1150 male players will participate in 11 different games, he said.
The purpose of these games is to play the players at the national level for which the Inter-Provincial games are being organized in which teams from all the provinces besides Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad will participate.
Participating in the meeting organized by the Pakistan Sports Board, he said, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will fully participate in the upcoming third Quaid-e-Azam Games. He thanked Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, Sports Advisor Syed Fakhar Jahan and Secretary Sports Matiullah for their efforts in continuous sports activities. He said they have taken timely steps to keep continuing the sports activities.
He said that a grant of Rs 100 million has been approved, thanks to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while another Rs. 160 million would be released well in time and overall Rs. 3.5 billion grants would be allocated for the completion of all ongoing sports infrastructure development.
He said that the Chief Minister will inaugurate the ICC Hayatabad Cricket Stadium on May 28, which has cost a lot of Rs. 1.5 billion. After the completion of the Stadium, any kind of national and international event can be held here. He said Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium revised plan has already been submitted which will be completed in the next financial year at a cost of around Rs. 2.4 billion.
With the completion of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will have the capacity to host Pakistan Super League and other international cricket matches. Regarding the U-23 games, DG Sports Abdul Nasir Khan said that all the players are being provided with kits and international level sports equipment and accommodation is being provided to all the players according to the weather in different hotels.
In the Games, teams from seven regions will reach Peshawar on May 27 and the arrangements for the opening ceremony on May 28 have been completed. A grant of 3.5 billion has been allocated for all ongoing projects. He said that the construction of the cricket stadium in Kalam will start soon as Rs. 2.6 million cost of the land has already been given to the District Administration and soon the land would be transferred to Director General Sports KP.
If done, the construction work will also be started on it, he said that the new scheme includes the promotion of sports, 4th Inter-Provincial Games, Riding Club along with renovation of Tehmash football ground have been approved while the scheme of the construction of golf course has been deferred for now.
