Pakistan launches national drug survey to combat narcotics menace

Pakistan has initiated a nationwide survey to gather data on drug users, marking a significant step towards creating effective anti-narcotics strategies.
This embarked on a critical mission to combat drug abuse by conducting a national drug survey, the first in 11 years.

The survey, approved by the Federal Minister of Interior and Anti-Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi, aims to collect comprehensive data on drug users from across the country, including homes, educational institutions, and slums, providing valuable insights for anti-narcotics efforts.
The National Drug Survey will be a comprehensive and authoritative exercise, covering homes, educational institutions, slums, and other areas. The data collected will enable policymakers to make informed decisions in the fight against narcotics.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of accurate survey data, stating that it will be crucial in shaping effective anti-narcotics strategies.
He directed the relevant authorities to finalize the survey methodology and timeline within 15 days.
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics will jointly conduct the survey, with international development organizations also being contacted for cooperation.

The last National Drug Survey was conducted in 2013, and this new initiative marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s efforts to combat drug abuse and ensure a safer future for its citizens.
