SCCI calls for establishment of business to business contact to strengthen Pak-US trade ties
Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fazal Moqeem Khan stressed the need for establishment of business to business contacts to enhance bilateral trade economic relations between Pakistan and U.S.
Addressing members during the visit of U.S Consul General in Peshawar Shante Moore at the chamber house on Tuesday, Moqem said KP is a lucrative destination for foreign investment.
He said KP province has been blessed with an abundance of oil, gas, hydel power generation and mineral resources and invited American companies to invest in these potentials through joint ventures.
Meeting was attended by SCCI senior vice president Abdul Jalil Jan, vice president Shehryar Khan, former presidents Fuad Ishaq, Faiz Muhammad Faizi, former senior vice presidents Imran Khan Mohmand, Shahid Hussain, members of the executive committee Hassan Zahideen, Adnan Nasir, Mujeebur Rehman, Saifullah Khan, Saddam Hussain, Abbas Fuad Azeem, Gul Zaman, Shams ur Rahim, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, and Mazhar ul Haq, Atif Rasheed Khajawa, Monawar Khurshid, Saddar Gul, Faiz Rasool, Fazal e Wahid, Qurat Ul Ain, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Arshad Iqbal Siddique, Ihsanullah, Affaf Ali Khan, Feroz Shah, Secretary General Muqtasid Ahsan, and traders from furniture sector, exporters and traders leaders.
Shante Moore while speaking on the occasion said his country is keen to further strengthen commercial relations and partnership.
He especially mentioned that the U.S is proactively working for socio-economic development and prosperity of KP’ merged districts through launch of joint collaboration and various projects.
The US diplomat vowed to continue collaboration with SCCI to strengthen mutual trade and economic relations by bringing business communities of the both countries closer to each other and initiating joint ventures.
Earlier, Fazal Moqeem enlightened the participants about investment opportunities for foreign investment in KP.
He mentioned prospects for enhancing mutual trade and economic relations between Pakistan/KP and U.S are brighter.
The SCCI chief called upon U.S Companies to make investment in hydel power generation, oil, gas, mining, honey, marble, furniture and other potential sectors of K-P that will help to strengthen the bilateral economic and commercial relations between the countries.
Replying to various queries, U.S Consul General said his country is taking pragmatic steps for economic development and prosperity of KP, especially its merged districts.
He said special programs were launched for young man and women skill development and economic empowerment, infrastructure, health, education improvement in merged districts,
Shante Moore reiterated his firm resolve to jointly work with SCCI for economic prosperity and development of KP, particularly establishment of business to business linkages to enhance commercial and economic ties.
