Saif asks centre to release KP dues, relief in bills
PESHAWAR
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s spokesperson Barrister Dr Saif has criticized the federal government for selling cheap electricity produced in the province back to the province at high prices.
“KP generates affordable electricity for the country, but the federal government exploits us by charging exorbitant rates,” Dr Saif said.
He pointed out that the province is denied relief in electricity supply and bills, despite producing cheap electricity.
Dr Saif also questioned the authority of a federal MNA to announce electricity bill reductions , emphasizing that the federal government owes KP billions of rupees in outstanding electricity dues.
“The federal government must pay its dues and end its discriminatory policies against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Dr Saif demanded.
Barrister Dr Saif further stated that the mandate-stealing federal government is sitting on KP ‘s dues like a snake, while keeping the national treasury open only for Punjab.
The people of the province are the most deserving of electricity relief, but instead of providing relief across the country, the government under Form 47 has only extended it to consumers in Punjab.
The decisions of the “mandate thieves” will increase the sense of deprivation among smaller provinces; he claimed and added that the centre is leading the country towards division rather than unity.
