Pakistani Media Delegation Visits LONGi Green Energy Headquarters in Xi’an, China

A delegation of Pakistani journalists, editors, and media experts visited the headquarters of LONGi Green Energy, a global leader in the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry, in Xi’an. The visit aimed to strengthen understanding of the renewable energy sector and explore the role of solar power in achieving a sustainable future.
During the visit, the delegation toured the LONGi Green Energy Smart Energy Exhibition Hall, where they learned about the evolution of energy throughout human history and gained a deeper understanding of the global PV industry. The tour emphasized the critical role renewable energy plays in addressing climate change and fostering a low-carbon future.
China supplies 70% of the world’s PV modules and 60% of its wind power equipment, aiding countries worldwide in transitioning to green energy. LONGi Green Energy, in particular, has been instrumental in helping countries like Pakistan adopt solar energy solutions.
Since entering the Pakistani market in 2018, LONGi has shipped over 6 gigawatts of PV modules to the country, effectively reducing power shortages and lowering electricity costs for both households and industries.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Eric Xin, Senior Sales Manager at LONGi Green Energy, highlighted “LONGi Green Energy’s overseas business currently spans 150 countries and regions worldwide.
In 2024, our market share of PV modules in Pakistan surpassed 40%, making us the leading new energy company in the local market.” He added, “Pakistan has abundant sunlight resources, making it highly suitable for photovoltaic power generation. In recent years, with the explosion of market demand, Pakistan’s annual installed capacity has ranked among the top in all of LONGi’s overseas markets.”
With Pakistan receiving an average of 2,800 to 3,000 hours of sunlight per year, the country is well-positioned to harness solar energy for sustainable development. LONGi has not only contributed to improving Pakistan’s energy landscape but also actively worked to cultivate renewable energy talent and raise public awareness about climate protection.
Abdullah Gohar Malik, Digital Editor of The Pakistan Observer, who was part of the delegation, shared his enthusiasm for solar energy.
“We have solar panels installed on our roof, so we don’t have to worry about electricity bills, and we can also contribute to the planet’s green development,” said Malik.
He also emphasized the importance of renewable energy for Pakistan’s future, noting the country’s goal of achieving 60% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Malik expressed hope for more green investments under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Reflecting on China’s role in the global PV industry, Malik added, “China’s commitment to producing high-quality PV products is evident in its leadership in the global solar industry. The PV products China is promoting are very beneficial to the environment, and I believe we’re not even doing enough. This kind of effort needs to continue.”
The Pakistani delegation, which included prominent media figures such as Murtaza Solange, Former Minister of Information of Pakistan’s Caretaker Government; Kamal Bashir, Press Secretary and Freelance Writer; Mian Abdullah Hussain, Director of Pakistan Today in Islamabad; Tahir Ali, Reporter for The National; Ababol Ali Asglhar, Senior Reporter of Pakistan National Television; Mairaj Farooq, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Chief Digital Editor of Daily Unity; Abdullah Gauhar Malik, Digital Editor of The Pakistan Observer; Yasir Habib Khan, Founder and Director of the Pakistan Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IRMR); and Imran Khalid, Columnist for The News, The National, and Pakistan Today, expressed their appreciation for LONGi’s efforts in promoting renewable energy.
They shared their optimism for a greener future in Pakistan, acknowledging the positive impact of solar power and the growing importance of renewable energy in the country.
As Pakistan embraces solar energy, LONGi is dedicated to advancing the country’s green energy transition and sustainable development. A recent visit by Pakistani media to LONGi Green Energy deepened their understanding of China’s clean energy industry and LONGi’s leading role in it, earning praise for its global success, especially in Pakistan, and its future development plans.
