Federal cabinet approves tariff review of more 8 IPPs
ISLAMABAD
Federal Cabinet has accorded approval to tariff review of more 8 IPPs.
Federal cabinet met here under Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif here Tuesday.
The cabinet gave approval for reviewing tariff with GDW, Chiniot power, Hamza Sugar Mills and Al-Muiz power plants.
Approval was also accorded in connection with review of tariff with Industry, Thal industries and Chinar Energy.
Decision for reviewing the tariff was taken in the light of recommendations of Special Task Force set up in regard to IPPs.
The participants were told during the briefing that decision will lead to save Rs 200 billions. Addressing the federal cabinet PM Shehbaz Sharif said political stability is indispensible for economic development.
Mechanism has been settled with the Lebanese PM for return of Pakistanis through land route who are marooned in Syria.
Foreign Minister is in contact with the ambassadors of Lebanon and Syria.
He held situation inside Syria has entirely changed. Pakistan has remained neutral in this matter. However 250 pilgrims have gone to Syria. Pakistanis are settled therein from old times. They are living there since 40 to 50 years. We have to take steps on fast track basis for their return. In this connection deputy prime minister and foreign minister Ishaq Dar is in contact with the ambassadors of Syria and Lebanon. In addition to 250 pilgrims, as many as 300 more Pakistanis including students and teachers want to return to Pakistan. We talked to PM Lebanon in regard to their return to Pakistan through land route. The inflation ratio has abated to 3.4 percent. I congratulate nation in this regard. Those who hatched conspiracy against Pakistan will not be pardoned. But no injustice will be done with any innocent.
