Court accepts exemption plea of Pervaiz Elahi

Development projects corruption case

LAHORE
Accountability Court (AC) Lahore has accepted exemption from attendance plea of former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for one day in development projects corruption case.
Judge Zubair Shahzad Kiyani of AC Lahore took up for hearing kick backs and corruption of billion of rupees in development projects reference against PTI leader Pervaiz Elahi Tuesday.
Pervaiz Elahi did not appear in the court being admitted in hospital due to illness.
One day exemption plea was filed on his behalf in the court.
The counsels took the plea during the hearing of the reference copies of NAB witnesses are not being provided despite court’s orders. The copies of statements of witnesses of NAB Inquiry be provided to the accused.
The court expressed displeasure over non provision of copies of statements of witnesses in NAB inquiry to the accused.
The learned judge remarked I will send back the reference if necessary documents are not provided to the accused persons till next hearing.
Prosecutor assured that NAB will provide copies till next hearing or will challenge the matter .
The court while accepting one day exemption plea of Pervaiz Elahi adjourned the hearing of the reference till September 25.
