All Pakistan Inter-University Cricket Championship begins in Peshawar

The final round of the All Pakistan Inter-University Cricket Championship began in Peshawar. The championship being organized in collaboration Pakistan Cricket Board and Higher Education Commission.
The opening ceremony was held at the Peshawar university Cricket Ground. DG Sports HEC Javed Ali Memon was the chief guest. VC Peshawar University Professor Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi, Director Sports Bahre Karam, former world squash champion Qamar Zaman were also present. Cricket teams from 18 universities from all over Pakistan are participating in the event.
DG Sports HEC Javed Ali Memon said that PCB has an important role in the promotion of cricket. With the support of HEC, PCB has organized the Inter-University Cricket Championship. He appreciated the sports activities and facilities at the University of Peshawar and said that HEC is establishing an International Volleyball Academy here, which will start functioning in six months.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Peshawar University Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi thanked PCB and Higher Education Commission for organizing the All Pakistan Inter-University Cricket Tournament at Peshawar University and said that it is very important to use paly grounds in educational institutions. If we use sports grounds in educational institutions, the youth will be saved from negative activities and there will be a positive change in the attitude of the new generation. He said that the land of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is very fertile in sports, it just needs to be polished. The province has produced many excellent players in various sports who have brought fame to the country. He said that steps will be taken to upgrade the grounds of Peshawar University.
