Under TAD agreement vehicles cross Torkham border to Afghanistan

Under Temporary Admission Documents (TAD) agreement, four export loaded trucks along with driver and cleaners crossed the western border to Afghanistan.
It is to be mentioned here that in 2019 when Covid 19 was broken across the world, due to health hazards, the Pak officials banned exit and entry of conductors in trucks and only driver was permitted to carry on the trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, last month, the TAD treaty signed between Pakistan and Afghanistan allowed to cross in or out the border along its crew members after its registration.
According to the custom in Torkham three vehicles moved to Afghanistan via Torkham while a truck an export loaded vehicle crossed out through Ghulam Khan Border.
The registration of the trucks and its crew members started on 01 May, 2024 and so far 16 trucks have been registered at Torkham crossing while 18 vehicles have been listed on Ghulam Khan Border, the official added.
The official maintained that in first phase export and import vehicles have been included in TAD and in May,2025 transit loaded trucks will be part of TAD agreement.
Earlier, the movements of Afghanistan registered trucks were limited to Peshawar but through TAD, it will be permitted to move across the country, official opined.
Details and correct information of truck owner, driver, conductor, their identity cards, mobile numbers, driving licenses and photos with a hundred dollars fee are the compulsory documents that need to be deposited and the concerned authorities will issue their registration in a short period after their documents scrutiny.
