Chairperson for Commission on Status of Women to be appointed soon, says Mashal Yousifzai

Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Social Welfare and Women empowerment Mashal Azam Yousafzai has said that the provincial government will soon KP appoint a suitable candidate for the post of Chairperson Commission on Status of Women,adding that the commission will enhance its efficiency very soon.
“ Women face a variety of problems including gender discrimination, domestic violence and early marriage in KP,” she said and added that a helpline for the prevention of domestic violence against women will be established which will be active 24 hours seven days a week.
She expressed these views while addressing the meeting of the 22nd Inter-Provincial Ministerial Group.
In the inter-provincial ministerial group meeting, Chairperson National Commission on Status of Women Nilofar Bakhtiar, Provincial Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment Rukhshanda Naz, UN Women, representatives of the four provinces along with senior officials of the Social Welfare department attended the meeting.
Speaking at the occasion, Advisor to Chief Minister Mashal Azam Yousafzai said that being an advisor in the province is a big responsibility. I will do everything for the rights and empowerment of women in the province. We believe in gender equality, but here women are not given the opportunities. we will empower our sisters and daughters. Last week, a meeting of provincial partners regarding women and children was organized. Very soon, the Provincial Assembly will pass legislation regarding child marriage, domestic violence, Ehsaas. A helpline for women is being set up to prevent domestic violence. UN Women is doing a lot for women. We appreciate their efforts. We will take more steps for women with their support.
Addressing the meeting, Chairperson National Commission on Status of Women Nilofar Bakhtiar welcomed the participants and thanked the participants for attending the meeting. In the meeting, a unanimous resolution was passed, in which women’s representation in the federal and provincial cabinets, women’s participation in decision-making, establishment of separate ministries for women in the provinces, Appointment of chairpersons of the Commission on Status of Women in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Parliamentary Women’s Caucuses in Provincial Assemblies, immediate implementation of Child Marriage Bill was demanded.
Advisor to Chief Minister Mashal Azam Yousafzai, while assuring the early appointment of the Chairperson of KP Commission on Status of Women, said that if we work together, we will be more successful. If women are given opportunities, they can do everything.
In the meeting, the proposed draft of Child Marriage Bill was also presented to the Advisor to Chief Minister Mashal Azam Yousafzai.
