The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with international organisation Edu Tourism for Unity to promote parliamentary capacity building, leadership development and educational exchanges.
\nThe agreement was signed at the Speaker\u2019s Office in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat in the presence of Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, said a handout.
\nKP Assembly Secretary Syed Wiqar Shah signed the MoU on behalf of the assembly, while Muhammad Daniyal Akram, overseas executive director of Edu Tourism for Unity, signed on behalf of the organisation. MPAs Ahmad Kareem Kundi and Muneer Hussain Lughmani also attended the ceremony.
\nUnder the agreement, the two sides will collaborate on parliamentary capacity building, leadership development, national and international study tours, educational exchange programmes and initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Mr Swati said strengthening the professional capacity of lawmakers and Assembly Secretariat staff was essential for developing an effective and modern parliamentary institution. He said collaboration with international organisations and participation in leadership programmes and study tours would enable legislators and parliamentary staff to benefit from global best practices.
\nAccording to the agreement, all activities and programmes undertaken under the MoU will require the approval and oversight of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat to ensure transparency, institutional accountability and effective coordination between the two sides.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
