\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved the Finance Bill 2026 and finalized budget proposals for the fiscal year 2026-27 aimed at strengthening revenue generation and improving financial management in the province.
\nThe approval was granted after detailed scrutiny of the summary prepared by the Finance Department. Finance Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Secretary Finance Captain (retd) Kamran Ahmed Afridi signed the summary, while the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approved its submission before the cabinet.
\nUnder the Finance Bill 2026, the provincial government has set a revenue target of Rs182.410 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27, marking a 41.4 percent increase compared to the Rs129 billion target set for the previous fiscal year 2025-26. Officials said the province had collected Rs100.8 billion during the first 10 months of the outgoing fiscal year, achieving 78 per cent of the annual target.
\nThe bill proposes amendments to seven key laws, including the Urban Immovable Property Tax Act 1958, Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Act 1990, KP Ordinance No. 23 of 2002, Sales Tax on Services Act 2022, Infrastructure Development Cess Act 2022, and Public Finance Management Act 2022.
\nSeparately, amendments have also been proposed in multiple departmental rules and regulations, including those related to food control, motor vehicle regulations, pesticides, fertiliser control, weights and measures, mines registration, examination conduct, and civil servants pension rules.
\nThe Finance Bill further includes a proposal to introduce e-invoicing and Sales Tax Enforcement Rules 2026 under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority, aimed at improving transparency and digitising the tax collection system.
\nOfficials said the proposed measures are designed to enhance revenue collection, strengthen fiscal discipline, modernise the tax system, and reinforce the province\u2019s financial autonomy.
