{"id":98530,"date":"2026-06-04T10:27:36","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T05:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/?p=98530"},"modified":"2026-06-04T10:27:36","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T05:27:36","slug":"pti-will-win-gilgit-baltistan-elections-says-shafi-jan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/pti-will-win-gilgit-baltistan-elections-says-shafi-jan\/","title":{"rendered":"PTI will win Gilgit-Baltistan elections, says Shafi Jan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was set to secure victory in the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan scheduled for June 7, saying the party has already \u201cwon in practice\u201d despite the polls yet to be held.<br \/>\nAddressing a press conference at KP House in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that obstacles faced by PTI during its election campaign reflected that voters in Gilgit-Baltistan had already made their decision in favour of the party.<br \/>\nHe alleged that restrictions and actions against PTI leaders during the campaign demonstrated a lack of \u201clevel playing field\u201d in the electoral process.<br \/>\nShafi Jan claimed that PTI leaders, including Junaid Akbar Khan, were arrested and sent back to the province, while alleged restrictions were also placed on other party leaders, including Salman Akram Raja and Intizar Panjotha, preventing them from campaigning freely.<br \/>\nHe further said that in some cases, logistical arrangements such as airport operations were disrupted to hinder political activities, and added that such measures reflected discrimination against the party.<br \/>\nThe provincial minister also said it was regrettable that the election symbol of a PTI allied party had been withdrawn, while PTI candidates had been allotted different symbols, creating additional challenges for the party.<br \/>\nHe said that despite such circumstances, PTI remained confident of a strong performance in Gilgit-Baltistan and was preparing a strategy to safeguard its electoral mandate and ensure protection of Form 45 results.<br \/>\nReferring to the February 8 general elections, he alleged that PTI was deprived of its mandate despite securing a clear majority, claiming that results were altered at the Form 47 stage.<br \/>\nShafi Jan said that PTI was in continuous contact with its candidates and would ensure transparency in the electoral process this time.<br \/>\nHe added that the party expected a decisive victory in Gilgit-Baltistan and would form its government there, while also criticising the overall governance situation in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was set to secure victory in the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan scheduled for June 7, saying the party has already \u201cwon in practice\u201d despite the polls yet to be held.
