\nAt least seven people were killed after a tourist vehicle en route to Fairy Meadows plunged into the Tattu Nala ravine in Gilgit-Baltistan\u2019s Chilas city, police and rescue officials said on Monday.
\nThe victims were travelling to the popular tourist destination of Fairy Meadows when their jeep met with an accident, police said.
\nAccording to police, all seven occupants, including the driver, died in the crash.
\nThe driver was identified as Ziaullah, a resident of Darel in Diamer district, rescue officials said, adding that two of the deceased tourists were identified as Ali and Sajjad, both from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nFour other deceased tourists are believed to be from Punjab, with efforts underway to confirm their identities, rescue officials said.
\nA rescue operation is continuing to recover the bodies of those killed in the accident, they added.
\nIn 2024, a similar deadly crash in Gilgit-Baltistan\u2019s Diamer district killed 20 people and left 21 others injured.
\nThe accident occurred on May 3 when a passenger bus veered off a narrow mountain road and plunged into a ravine in a remote area of the district, police said.
\nAccording to officials, the incident took place around 5:30am in the Yashokhal area along the Karakoram Highway.
\nThe bus was travelling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit and was carrying at least 38 passengers at the time of the crash, police added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
