Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz reviewed the readiness of digital technologies, communications networks and artificial intelligence systems being deployed for the Hajj 1447 AH season to improve pilgrim services and crowd management across the holy sites.
\nAccording to SPA, the deputy governor, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah, chaired a meeting attended by Abdullah Alswaha and senior officials from Saudi Arabia\u2019s digital economy and technology sectors.<\/p>\n
The meeting reviewed the preparedness of communication and AI systems supporting government and service agencies during Hajj to ensure efficient digital services for pilgrims in Makkah, the holy sites and Madinah.
\nThe report said artificial intelligence, Internet of Things technologies and remote sensing systems are being utilized to improve crowd management, service efficiency and safety throughout the pilgrim journey.
\nAuthorities revealed that the number of communication towers in Makkah, Madinah and the holy sites has exceeded 5,230, marking a 2.55 percent increase compared to last year.
\nMore than 2,000 kilometers of fiber-optic cables were also added within the holy sites, bringing the total network length to 31,000 kilometers and achieving full communications coverage across the pilgrimage areas.
\nThe meeting further reviewed workforce development in the technology sector, including the doubling of technology-related jobs in the region and female participation reaching 36 percent.
\nOfficials said more than 4,200 technical personnel have been assigned during the Hajj season to support operations and maintain digital infrastructure.
