He said PTI workers had shown restraint despite repeated obstacles, but questioned the message being sent when an elected chief executive of a province was blocked from moving.
The chief minister said courts had fixed the day for family meetings with Khan, yet his family members, legal team and personal physicians continued to face restrictions. He demanded that Khan be allowed a medical examination and treatment under his own doctors and in the presence of family, arguing that transparency was the only way to address growing public concern over reports about the PTI leader’s health, particularly his eyesight.
Afridi also raised grievances over what he called discriminatory treatment of KP. Citing Article 158, he said the province was entitled to priority over its natural gas resources but continued to face shortages. He further said attempts to impede wheat movement violated Article 151, which guarantees free inter-provincial trade. Restrictions on gas, electricity and wheat supplies, along with the obstruction of elected leadership, were incompatible with federalism, he added.
Referring to the cipher controversy, Afridi said recent media reports reinforced concerns about external influence over national affairs. He insisted that Pakistan must remain sovereign and faithful to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
He also criticised the 27th Constitutional Amendment, saying it had weakened the judiciary. Warning that the government would decide its next step if access to Adiala Jail remained blocked, Afridi said his demand was rooted in the protection of fundamental rights and constitutional supremacy, not unlawful claims.
KP has seen repeated friction with the Centre over resource distribution and political space in recent months, with PTI leadership arguing that the province’s mandate was being undermined.

ISLAMABAD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Tuesday accused the federal government of undermining democratic norms and provincial autonomy after he and his cabinet were allegedly stopped from proceeding to Islamabad to meet the family of PTI founder Imran Khan.
