The chief of Qaumi Watan (QWP) Party and senior politician Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the southern districts, and accused the provincial government of failing to protect the lives and property of citizens.
\nIn a statement issued from the QWP secretariat in Peshawar Watan Kor here on Wednesday, the QWP chief said the province had been \u201cleft at the mercy of terrorists\u201d while the government appeared helpless, incompetent and indifferent to the growing security challenges.
\nMr Sherpao said recent incidents, including the terrorist attack in Bannu, an explosion in Naurang Bazaar in Lakki Marwat and the reported bank van robbery in Dumail, reflected the government\u2019s failure to maintain law and order.
\nHe termed the incidents a result of weak policies, poor governance and administrative incompetence, claiming that they had pushed the province into an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
\nThe QWP chairman alleged that instead of addressing public problems and restoring peace, the rulers were more focused on political interests and publicity.
\nHe claimed that large parts of the province, particularly the southern districts, were effectively under the influence of militant elements and that the government had lost its writ in those areas.
\nMr Sherpao said markets, roads, commercial centres and public places had become unsafe, while citizens were living in constant fear and insecurity.
\nHe added that the worsening security situation had adversely affected business activities, education, investment and daily life across the province.
\nReferring to the sacrifices rendered by police and security forces in the fight against militancy, Mr Sherpao said the continued sense of insecurity among the people should serve as a moment of reflection for the authorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
